Around twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Homeowners observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.
